Team Discmania
2026 PDGA Champions Cup winner. Two-time European Champion. The first Finnish man to lift a Pro Tour title and a Major. Finland's number one, and he is only getting started.
The story
Niklas picked up a disc in the autumn of 2015 in Kuopio, a lakeside city in central Finland. By the following spring he was on the course every day. One season later he was competing, and by 2018 he was wearing a Discmania jersey and holding a Finnish junior title.
Demanding of himself, quiet about it, and very hard to shake on a Sunday.
The rise since has been steady and stubborn. A world team title with Finland at 18. A first national championship in 2020. European Champion in 2021. Then the near misses that sharpen a player: runner-up at the 2022 USDGC, runner-up at the 2023 Champions Cup, four second places at Majors in four seasons.
Texas is where the nickname was earned. In 2024 he won The Open at Austin, becoming the first Finnish man to win a Disc Golf Pro Tour event, and pulled on the champion's cowboy hat. He went back in 2025 and won it again. The Finnish Cowboy stuck.
In April 2026, at New London Tech in Virginia, the last box was ticked: a one-stroke win over the world number one for his first Major, and the first by a European in the men's field since 2009.

By the numbers
Nine competitive seasons, 168 sanctioned events, and a habit of finishing near the top of the page.

Lynchburg, Virginia · 9–12 April 2026
He opened with a nine-under round and six straight birdies on the back nine to lead by four. He closed it on Sunday with the world number one charging, perfect from inside the circle, and a long circle-two putt on 17 that kept him a single stroke clear.
Four runner-up finishes at Majors came before it. This one made him the first Finnish man to win an MPO Major, and the first European to do it since 2009.

The workhorse. His signature power driver for controlled distance that holds a line in wind.
Maximum distance when a hole asks for everything, with a dependable finish.
The overstable answer for headwinds, flex shots and forehand utility.
Dead-straight fairway finder for wooded lines, the kind that win at New London.
A stable approach mid that he can trust to fade on command from 100 metres in.
A straight, grippy putter for the long ones that decide a Sunday.
Partners
Niklas has thrown Discmania since the start of the 2018 season, when he was a 16-year-old junior champion. In 2024 the two signed a four-year extension that keeps him in the shield through 2027, with a signature disc line, jersey and tour bag to his name.
